Abstract

The family Hebridae is distributed worldwide and includes nine genera and 221 species. There are three genera recorded for South America: Hebrus, Merragata and Lipogomphus. They are organisms between 2.4 and 2.6 mm, pubescent body, color close to black, with antennas of four segments and a middle constriction in the last segment simulating five segments. In Colombia, the genus Hebrus has been recorded for the Departments of Antioquia, Nariño, Quindío, Cundinamarca and Chocó. The knowledge of the distribution of this group is still incipient in Colombia and, therefore, this work aimed to report the genus Hebrus Curtis, 1933 for the Department of Caldas biota. Biological material deposited in the entomological collection of the Biology Program at Universidad de Caldas (CEBUC) was reviewed where a total of nine individuals belonging to the Manso river locality (Municipality of Norcasia, Caldas) were found. This new report contributes with information about the distribution of the group and provides new knowledge about the Department of Caldas biota.
