Abstract

Abstract: ome reflections derived from the study about production systems (craftsmanship, art, iterative production) which have been carried out by the Aesthetic and Social Research Group in Visual Design are collected in this document. Although the text addresses the understanding of some of their general characteristics, the main purpose of the exercises is to establish whether the objects, spaces and visual elements correspond to the needs, wishes and ideas of reality and welfare that people share in cultural dynamics in a determined community. In reference to contextual particularities of the central-western area in Colombia, the question is if the presence of production systems has been the result of radical imposition and substitution or, quite the contrary they survive and coexist in virtue to acceptance, recognition, the symbolic-cultural sense that individuals discover in them. The starting point of this work can be found in the article “Design, production system that makes sense” (2005) and in the research project “Incidence of Design in the Regional Context: Objects, Messages and spaces before 1950”, developed by the Aesthetic and Social Research Group in Visual Design and whose main purpose was centered in describing the type of influences present in design which were taken from the primary elaboration and attainment of objects, messages and environments during the colonization process of the Caldense geography. The article then summarizes the reflection exercise in which the definition of the term design separates or, at least, differentiates from the instrumental actions inherent to the effector actions.
